I am the Diva Challenge - 'Cairns'
Today's challenge really resonated with me because of the rocks. I mean, cairns are an incredible thing, but a bit overwhelming for me. So I picked out a memory of using rocks that brings peace of mind. Buddhists build 'stupas' to house memories or spirits. I remember one day in autumn I sat on a peninsula at Old Mission on Lake Michigan in the midst of the lake on either side, building a stupa-like pile of rocks like I'd seen in pictures. I remember the light of the day, the shimmering fields in the distance at shore, and the feel of putting together this marker saying I had been there and existed that day, and the mystery of how long my stupa would stand. Would it be years? A week? Would it fall down? I shall never know and that is a beautiful God given moment of being in the moment. I have been struggling with my artistic pursuits and what I'm doing, and today's challenge was such a peaceful release. Thanks for all of your kind words everyone. Because of your kindness I stopped being so hard on myself and just be me. Thank you.

Oh, this is pretty!
ReplyDeleteLove your story and what you have created. The cool colors are very peaceful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful memories. Thank you for sharing. I love the peaceful feeling I get looking at your flowing tangles. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteYour description of that special moment in time touches me, Sarah. We've all had moments like those, haven't we? I agree with Jean -- the drawing gives me a peaceful feeling.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you dare to be you now, that's such an achievement. Thanks for sharing your story, I'm thankful to have memories like that; small events that are i my memory for as long as I live.
ReplyDeleteYour zia is lovely!
What a lovely story. Your tile is glowing with a peacefulness found in this remembered moment. Namaste.
ReplyDeleteYour art is a beautiful representation the story you shared of a special moment in time for you. In fact, it has given me the inspiration to try to do likewise for one of my special moments. Mine didn't involve rocks, but did involve slanting sunlight, beautiful trees, and the ringing of bells.

ReplyDeletePretty tile!
ReplyDeleteYour words painted a wonderful image in my mind. I never knew 'stupas' housed memories and spirits. That was interesting to know. The colours on your tile reflect the calmness that you had in mind. It's lovely.
ReplyDeleteThis is incredible. I love how the finery rises up in stark white against that serene blue-green background, and the stones at the bottom, almost hidden. Like your foundation is deep and sunk in mystery. And the dustbunny up above...I added dustbunny to mine, too.
ReplyDeleteAnd how wonderful, that you found your peace doing this. It shows!
Super cool.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty Sarah I love the colours too😊 and roxi I like that tangle but often forget it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colours and subtle images. Love it. Axxx
