Diva Challenge 227-circus

The cruelty to animals I have seen at the circus comes to mind. Seeing an elephant with a chain around its leg still haunts me. These wild animals, kept in cages, around so much unnatural noise, never allowed to see the sky, hear the birds or feel the sun on their backs as they lay in the grass is a tragedy.  I'm very disappointed in this subject for this week.  :(

  2. I am sorry you are upset by the Diva challenge topic. I hope you do not hold Laura in a bad way for my decision of the circus. I also want you to know that I love animals, I own 2 dogs and a backyard full of wild animals that come visit my studio. I grew up going to see the winterted animals of Ringling in Satasota and it is a great memory of my father who always took me there. It always seemed to me that the animal trainers loved their animals do much. You shold also know that Ringling is moving away from using wild animals in there shows and will discontinue using elephants all together. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2015/03/150305-ringling-bros-retires-asian-elephants-barnum-bailey/

  3. Oh dear Sarah, sorry you are sad. I do think your tile has portrayed your feelings well. I think a lot of circuses are moving away from using animals. Think instead of the Circ de Soleil. Lights, glitter, movement, music and magic.

  4. Sorry to hear you think of chains when you think of a circus. Luckily, animals are being used less and less. Actually, from September 15 this year, wild animals are officially forbidden in circuses in the Netherlands!

  7. If you read my post this week, you'll see that I mentioned the animals too. Like Ilse wrote, wild animals are forbidden in The Netherlands this year and I think all Europe is following. BTW, I don't visit zoo's too because in a lot of them, animals are still in horrible cages.
